Disharmony

I think by now you guys are starting to get the idea that I really like the halo effect.

The relationship between Solare and Celestia is very strained and fragile. Since childhood, Solare could feel an underlying tension Celestia had always tried to hide from him, which made him doubt his mother's love for him as he grew older. He had always sensed a touch of fear near her whenever they interacted- either for him or of him, he has been unable to tell. Despite his doubts, Celestia truly does love him, but because of reasons yet to be revealed, she has always nearly unconsciously kept him at a distance. As Solare grew older and his responsibilities as a prince began to creep up on him, he began to lash out rebelliously against his duties, but more importantly, against his mother. True to his nature, he let his laziness and disinterest run rampant at highly inappropriate times- state dinners, royal summits, conferences, any affair where he would have to be regal and pristine in order to bring pride to the Equestrian royal line, you could trust Solare would be doing his best to embarrass delegates, cause havoc, and tarnish kingdom relationships, all with a smug grin on his face. Solare's immense lack of care hurts and disturbs Celestia deeply, and while she has tried to reach out to him, he's spurned her attempts at setting him down the right path with snide apologies. As is, they are both on thin ice around each other, Celestia often wary and seemingly disappointed, while Solare remains contemptuous and condescending.

I haven't covered much of Solare recently! Thought it should be remedied, so here I am, at the wee hours of the morning, dishing this out, hehe. Solare's story arc is one that sort of just clicked in my brain when I was deciding what to do with him, and I'm always happy to work on revealing his story some more. Hopefully I'll get around to going over just what it is about him that makes Celestia so reserved. All in all, I'm glad I was able to finish this- I've been having a hard time recently completing some stuff, so I'm happy I managed to fully focus on this piece and get it out to you guys. There'll be more of Solare to come in the future, in the meantime, enjoy!
